Chief Tracy, retired Battalion Commander, having served 31 years with the FDNY. Acknowledged for developing numerous training programs presented at the FDNY academy for all ranks including Chief Officers. Attributes for the revising of many procedural documents for the FDNY. There are numerous articles authored by Chief Tracy and published in the FDNY’s training publication WNYF (With New York Firefighters), Fire Engineering and Fire House magazines. Chief Tracy was the catalyst to bring about the live fire research conducted by NIST and NYU Polytechnic Institute to better understand Fire (behavior) Dynamics in High Rise Buildings with emphasis on Wind Impacted Fires. Further research conducted were methods to achieve Smoke Management and Control enhancing the life safety for building occupants. That included stairwell pressurization with portable fans (PPV). He was a keynote speaker at the FDIC conference in 2007, hosted by Fire Engineering Magazine and recipient of the “Tom Brennan Lifetime Achievement Award” in 2016.
